The Alliance of Rouge Communities (ARC) and Friends of the Rouge are looking for volunteers to participate in the annual Winter Stonefly Search on Saturday, January 21 from 9am – 3pm at the Environmental Interpretive Center located at the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus on 4901 Evergreen Road.
Volunteers are needed to help look for sensitive aquatic insects that indicate good water quality. No experience is necessary and volunteers are asked to come dressed for the weather. Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult and groups larger than six must be split. All volunteers will be pre-assigned to teams that travel to two stream sites where they will pick through samples collected from the stream by team leaders.
