Local, State and Federal Elected Officials

Canton is a Charter Township government where the elected Supervisor, Clerk, and Treasurer are also full-time administrators. The Legislative body is the Board of Trustees, which includes the three full-time elected administrators and four part-time Trustees. Partisan elections are held every fourth year, coinciding with presidential election years.

The Board of Trustees meets each Tuesday at 7:p.m. in regular session or study session. All meetings are open to the public. Minutes of all public meetings are available on-line or upon request.

The Supervisor is the chief administrator of the township. His responsibilities include; overseeing the operation of all township departments, chairperson of the Board of Trustee meetings, appoints board and commission members, preparation and monitoring of township budget, and serves on several local and regional boards.

The Clerk's office is located on the main floor of the Administration Building. The office registers citizens to vote, provides passports, dog licenses, minutes of meetings and ordinances. The Clerk also serves as the chief administrator of township elections.

The Treasurer's office is located on the main floor of the Administration Building. The Treasurer is responsible for all township investments and tax levies on both real and personal property.
