Canton Clean-Up Days

Open to residents only. On scheduled Saturdays of each month, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m., there are Canton Clean-up days. See the Focus Monthly Community Newsletter or the on-line Community Calendar for the schedule.

CWR is open for recycling (plastics, paper, cardboard, tin, glass, oil, paint -limit 5 one gallon containers, antifreeze, batteries) on scheduled Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for RECYCLING ONLY.

CWR will not collect construction materials such as sand, bricks, concrete blocks, lumber, cement, stones, drywall, gravel, roofing materials, steel structural

shapes, swing sets, inflated or mounted tires, railroad ties, sod, dirt of any kind, tree stumps, tree trunks, paint, glass doors, windows, paneling, countertops, flooring, lawn mowers, pool heaters, furnaces, etc...you may call for information on special pickups or drop offs.

Residents will be required to present proof of Canton Township residency and may bring up to 3 yards per visit (one level pickup truck load) of trash (No commercial vehicles allowed). Schedule is printed in the monthly community brochure Focus. Used motor oil can be taken to Canton Waste Recycling, 42020 Van Born; American Waste, 44141 Yost Rd.; and Valvoline Instant Oil, 44075 Ford Rd.

Curbside pickup of residential yard waste will begin April 1, 2008 and continue until November. All yard waste should be placed separate from your trash and recyclables on your regular trash day.

Acceptable yard waste items include; grass clippings, leaves, yard and garden waste, pruning debris, wood debris, and brush. Unacceptable yard waste items include; food scraps, animal waste, batteries, chemicals, and sod.

Twigs, branches, brush, pruning, and wood debris must be tied with heavy twine into bundles no longer than three feet, 1 ½ inches in diameter, and weighing no more then 50 pounds. Bundles are limited to six bundles a week.

Grass clippings, leaves, and garden waste must be placed in 30 gallon paper yard waste bags or 32 gallon reusable containers with sturdy handles marked "COMPOST". Stickers for reusable container are available at Canton’s Community Services counter.

All containers must be marked "COMPOST" and containers weighing over 50 pounds or that are over 32 gallons will not be accepted.

Holidays

Rubbish collection is not scheduled on the following Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, your rubbish pickup will be delayed one day that week.
