POWER OUTAGE

In the event of a power outage, residents are asked to call Detroit Edison at 800/477-4747.

Residents may also use that number to report downed power lines. To report a natural gas leak or emergency, please call DTE at 800/947-5000.

Engineering ensures that the community engineering design and construction standards are met. Engineering Services works in the areas of utilities, drainage infrastructure, special assessment districts, road paving, flood plains and wetlands, and outside agency permits.

Primary duties include:

Review and inspection of private developments
Building plot plan review and approval
Annual Sidewalk Replacement Program including design and inspection
Annual Sidewalk Gap Program administration
Contract administration for roads, water, sewer, and stormwater projects
Capital Improvements Program administration
Conduct various engineering studies
Annual Intersection Safety Improvement Program planning

How Do I Report a Water Main Break?

During normal business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm) you may call Canton's Divison of Public Works at 734/397-1011 or Engineering Services at 734/394-5150.

If the break happens after hours or during a holiday please call Canton Public Safety at 734/394-5400.
