Forever After Productions Presents "Singin’ In The Rain" Based on the Screen Play by Betty Compden & Adolph Green

Canton, MI – January 13, 2010 The unforgettable scene of Gene Kelly dancing his way down a rain swept street and leaping in puddles is coming to life at the Village Theater located in the beautiful Cherry Hill Village of Canton, Michigan-and, yes folks, it’s even going to rain on stage!

Forever After Productions is pleased to present "Singin’ in the Rain". This entertaining musical was created using various music from the movies of the 1920s, with some new songs thrown in-including the most famous which gave the script its title, Irving Berlin’s "Singin’ In The Rain". The gifted team of Betty Compden and Adolph Green were brought on to create the screenplay regarding the movie industries shift from silent to talking pictures. During the shift, many of the famous silent film movie stars fell to the wayside-many times due to their voices. Betty and Adolph bring this Hollywood historical period to life with lightheartedness and laughter.

Tyler Dean (Plymouth, MI) plays Don, the leading man who gets his start in vaudeville and approaches everything with an irreverent sense of humor until he meets his match, Kathy, and falls in love. This is the character made famous by Gene Kelly’s graceful moves, melodious voice and mischievous spark. Accompanying Don in his misadventures is his cohort and brother in arms Cosmo, played by Michael Albert (Canton, MI). Rachel Palgut (Plymouth, MI) portrays a wonderful Lina LaHorn, a beautiful silent movie star with a voice like fingers on a chalkboard. And finally, the role of Kathy that introduced Debbie Reynolds to the world and launched her career will be played by Kellie Fellios, who is radiant as the woman who captures Don’s heart.

The Director is Miss Shannon McNutt, the founder of Second Stage Players. Miss McNutt brings a deep love of theater and passion to this production. Mrs. Debbie Ash (DanceBeat) is one of the Producers and the Choreographer. Mrs. Ash has been bringing her love of dance to various productions for a number of years culminating in this show. The challenges in choreographing this show to stay true to the original are great, but Mrs. Ash is more than up for this challenge with beautiful dance sequences to accompany the songs. The second Producer is Mr. Kyle Kaufman, who also Designs the Sets and is the one who is going to make it rain. Mr. Kaufman has designed sets for, Willy Wonka, LeMiserables and West Side Story with the help of his crew and dedicated parents who freely donate hours of their time to create a world worthy of their children to perform in. And finally the cast-young people from Canton and surrounding communities - who are truly gifted and dedicated. Without them there would be no show.
