Spotlight Players Present "Barefoot in the Park" at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill

Canton, MI, January 22, 2010 - Spotlight Players is pleased to present Barefoot in the Park by legendary playwright Neil Simon. Barefoot in the Park was Simon’s longest running show on Broadway and is adored by audiences of all ages. This romantic comedy focuses on two newlyweds, Corie and Paul Bratter, as they begin married life in a tiny 5th floor walk-up apartment in a mid-Manhattan brownstone.

Cast includes: Maria Kovac of Canton as Corie Bratter; Russ Schwartz of Ann Arbor as Paul Bratter; Chris Garland of Waterford as Mrs. Ethyl Banks; Drex Morton of Canton as Victor Velasco; John Bouffard of Southfield as Telephone Man.

The cast also features a Delivery Man. This role will be performed by local radio or television personalities as a cameo. Guest performers include the following local celebrities:

According to Director Allison Soranno, "Barefoot in the Park shows the brutal reality of newlyweds adjusting to the institution of marriage. Paul, a conservative young lawyer, is 26 going on 56. His wife, Corie, is full of adventurous spirit and hope for the future. Both husband and wife must relinquish a part of themselves to ease the transition from honeymoon to housekeeping." When asked who would want to see the show, Soranno said, "People of all ages and all walks of life. Neil Simon’s dialogue is witty and smart. The true humor of the situation will allow the audience to take a moment to reflect on the dynamics of their real-life relationships."

Location: Auditions and performances are at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, 50400 Cherry Hill Rd., Canton, MI, 48187. The Village Theater has free parking, is handicap accessible and has a concession stand.

Box office opens 1 hour prior to show-time. Tickets are $18.00/adults; $16.00/seniors, $16.00/students under 19.
