Eastman’s enduring children’s classic is coming to The Village Theater at Cherry Hill on Saturday, February 11, 2012 for one show only at 11 a.m. ArtsPower’s enchanting musical about Baby Bird’s adventure, a journey that overflows with courage, determination, and a bit of silliness is a must-see show for children in grades Kindergarten through Second Grade. In fact, the whole family will enjoy this delightfully charming and masterfully produced musical, which is part of Canton Village Theater’s family offerings. Tickets are now on sale online at CantonVillageTheater.org or by calling 734/394-5460. The Musical begins when Baby Bird hatches from her egg only to find an empty nest. Unaware that her mother has left to find food, Baby Bird decides to leave the nest to look for her; along the way, she meets an array of colorful characters who help her and advise her. Persistent Baby Bird is determined to find her mother no matter what. "There's a reason that we continue to invite ArtsPower productions back to the Village Theater season after season," said Recreation Specialist Jennifer Provenzano. "They deliver professional actors, original music, and unforgettable stories with charming characters and important lessons. ‘Are You My Mother?’ is no different. They've managed to turn a favorite P.D. Eastman picture book, from Dr. Seuss's beloved Beginner Book Collection, into a magical stage show full of vibrant moments that will dance in the memories of little theatre-goers for years to come!" "Are You My Mother?" features a rich, upbeat musical score and imaginative sets. Adapted for the stage by playwright and lyricist Greg Gunning and composer Richard DeRosa, "Are You My Mother?" shows children and adults alike how loss can be turned into empowerment and how Baby Bird ends up finding more than she is looking for. Mark and Gary Blackman founded ArtsPower in 1985 and have been steering its course ever since. ArtsPower has grown into one of America’s largest and most active producers of professional theatre for young and family audiences.
