Canton's Family Snow Skiing & Snowshoeing Event Set For February 16, 2013

Canton, MI – January 30, 2013 - Looking for a great way to get outdoors and enjoy a winter walk? Then Bundle up and join Canton Leisure Services Snow Skiing and Snow Shoeing Event at the Lower Rouge River Recreation Trail on Saturday, February 16, 2013.  Enjoy the great outdoors during this winter adventure from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., where you’ll be able to investigate the trail by skis or snowshoes.

The Lower Rouge River Recreation Trail, located off Michigan Avenue at Morton Taylor, is a great winter destination for the whole family.  The spectacular scenery and winter landscape make the trails an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  This FREE event is also part of Canton’s 100 Days to Health Program, which encourages area residents to make healthy living a top priority in 2013.

“If the weather cooperates, hiking these trails during this annual event is a great way to stay active this winter,” said Jason Lombardo, Recreation Specialist.  “Participants get a chance to enjoy the winter splendor and chase the winter blues away at the same time.”

Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.  If you’re looking to rent gear, contact  Sun & Snow Sports in Plymouth, MI at 734/927-0007 by Monday, February 11, 2013.  This event is weather permitting.  If limited snow accumulation has you questioning if this event will take place or not, please call the Summit Front Desk at 734/394-5460 to confirm.  Hot coco and snacks will be available for a small donation.  Remember to dress appropriately for this outdoor event.

If you’re serious about outdoor fun in the Canton area, then plan to make tracks at this FREE fun family event on February 16. For more information on the Snow Skiing and Snow Shoeing Day at the Lower Rouge River Recreation Trail, call 734/394-5460 or visit
