Then the town becomes over run with rats and a mysterious PIPER appears and promises to rid the town of this vermin for a price. A deal is made and the PIPER carries out the task. When the Mayor refuses to live up to the bargain, the PIPER lures all the children out of the town and into a mysterious mountain. The townspeople confront the Mayor and as good will always triumph over evil – the children and the town are restored and a new Mayor is appointed leaving all with a valuable lesson – you must pay the PIPER! In Geppetto and Son, Pinocchio's dad has some lessons to learn in being a real father. After many adventures, the two manage to stumble into a caring, accepting relationship. The co-creators have kept the callous puppeteer Stromboli (from the first film), whose song is an operatic tenor recitative, and have also invented Professor Buonragazzo who 'desings' perfect, made-to-order offspring, and the Ring Leader who turns children into donkeys. The show now incorporated a new song not included in the original Disney 'Geppetto' movie along with 'When You Wish Upon a Star' and 'I've Got No Strings' from the original Disney 'Pinocchio' movie. Based on the original Disney television musical, Geppetto and Son features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by David Stern.
