Club 55+ Activities and Events
New and Modified In-Person Programs
To better address our community’s programming needs in this ever-changing environment, Canton Leisure Services will be modifying all new and existing programming opportunities here. All of these programs have been developed to allow for safe physical distancing, smaller class sizes, equipment sanitizing procedures, and more.
Look for exciting new recreational programs and events to be rolled out on an ongoing basis throughout the fall. As we move forward, watch for new programs to be announced as they become available, with registration beginning once posted.

Indoor Programs
Please Note: Canton Club 55+ Program Guidelines
- Masks are strongly recommended while inside the Summit.
- Participants must pre-register for each activity, excluding billiards.
- Club 55+ center is now open for limited in-person activities. The desk is open Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.

indoor walking track 2023 membership
- Canton Club 55+ currently offers a Striders membership which will give individuals ages 55+ access to the Summits walking track at a discounted price. For more information, call Canton Club 55+ at 734/394-5485.
- Annual Fee: $7R (plus $1 per visit) / $10 NR (plus $3 per visit)
AFGHAN/KNITTING CLUB
- Join this wonderful group every Tuesday to make afghans for family, friends, and our soldiers. This group also works on knitted/crocheted dishcloths as well as hats and scarves for the homeless veterans

Billiards
- Come on in, bring a friend, or meet new ones and participate in a game of eight ball on one of our two 8 ft. tables.

Euchre
- Euchre is a fast-paced partner-based card game. It requires a little bit of skill as well as luck! Played usually with the highest 32 cards, in which each player is dealt 5 cards and the player making the trump is required to take at least 3 tricks to win. Come join the fun!

MahJong
- Similar to the Western card game rummy, MahJong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. The group is very welcoming and will teach those that are new to the game. Come and enjoy this fun yet challenging game.

- Drop in for a social morning and meet other fellow carvers. Individuals bring in their own supplies & equipment.

- Drop in and enjoy Pickleball. Paddles are available to borrow at the Canton Club 55+ desk. Please register at the Club 55+ front desk and sign a medical waiver prior to your first time playing.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

Medicare counseling
- Presentation: Tuesday, March 21

- Certified volunteer counselors will be on-site offering free, unbiased services for Medicare beneficiaries and their representatives. pet-assisted therapy group

- Pet-assisted therapy has many benefits such as improved mental stimulation, memory stimulation, lessened levels of anxiety, reduced risk of depression, lowered blood pressure, and so much more! Be part of this monthly group and experience the benefits of therapy pets. This group will meet on the 4th Thursday of every month.

- Join us for this Club 55+ annual traditional! Enjoy a wide variety of delicious, homemade baked goods available for purchase. Proceeds from the bake sale will support Club 55+ Senior Services. Oil and acrylic painting

- Learn the basics in both mediums. Participants will paint from both still-life and photographs, while exploring color theory and design. This class is adjusted for beginners and experienced painters. Class instructed by Durwood Coffey.

religion course: survey of the bible

- Dr. John A. McLean, Ph.D. (University of Michigan) and Th.M. (Dallas Theological Seminary) will teach a four-week course on the history and content of the Bible. This will include: Old Testament Law, Prophets and Writings as well as New Testament Gospels, History and Letters. Please register by April 3.
