Parent to Parent Sale (formerly Mom to Mom Sale)
Date: Saturday, May 21, 2022
Shift: 6:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: West Parking Lot - Summit on the Park
Brief Description of Event: Gently used children’s items will be sold at the Parent to Parent Sale. The event will be held outdoors in the west parking lot at the Summit on the Park. This is a more physically demanding volunteer opportunity. Volunteers must be able to set up and move tables and lift items onto carts.
Type of tasks volunteers will be asked to do:
- Setup and move tables in the west parking lot.
- Help sellers unload their cars and take sale items to their assigned table.
- Assist guests by taking purchased items to their vehicles.
- Help sellers pack unsold items and load their cars after the event.
Attire/Special Instructions: Casual attire and athletic shoes are recommended. You will be on the go.

River Day and National TrailS Day Celebration
Event Date/Times: Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Location: Lower Rouge River Trailhead at Michigan Ave. & Morton-Taylor
Brief Description of Event: Canton Celebrates National Trail Day. Celebrate the hidden gem that is the Lower Rouge River Trail. Planned activities include self-guided tours, educational presentations, recycling advice, and a make-it-yourself trail mix station.
Type of tasks volunteers will be asked to do:
- Help move tables and chairs
- Carry boxes for vendors
Attire/Special Instructions: Casual attire and comfortable shoes are a must. Volunteers will be standing for the full shift.

Brief Description of Event: The 29th annual Liberty Fest will feature something for everyone, including a carnival, midway games, live entertainment, food, and more! The three-day festival includes a spectacular firework display on Friday night. Visit www.cantonlibertyfest.com for further details.
Type of tasks volunteers will be asked to do: Volunteers will greet guests, pass out festival information and provide directions to event attractions.
Attire: Comfortable attire and your Liberty Fest t-shirt. Athletic shoes are recommended.
Special Instructions: All volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory Liberty Fest Volunteer Training. You will receive your Liberty Fest t-shirt during training.

Brief Description of Event: The Canton Rotary Club and the Canton Optimist Club will host the Adult Beverage Tent featuring beer and wine. This fundraiser supports many community projects, including First Step and Salvation Army.
Type of tasks volunteers will be asked to do: Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older to participate.
- Check ID’s and sell tickets

- Clear tables
- Pour beverages

Brief Description of Event: Rally on Ridge is a food truck rally featuring live entertainment, a beer garden and more!

- Khaki or black casual pants and polo type shirt or solid color t-shirt.
Volunteer Parking: Parking for volunteers will be available in the public parking lot on School House Road. Access to the lot is on Cherry Hill Rd., just west of the Cherry Hill School.

Volunteer Training
Canton Township volunteers are required to attend training a minimum of one time per year. The training provides volunteers with information about upcoming events, customer service, and emergency preparedness. All registered volunteers will be emailed of upcoming volunteer training dates.
Meals on Wheels and Pheasant Run Golf Club Volunteers
For positions requiring driving, volunteers' driving records will be verified as part of their Volunteer Application. For additional information, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator via email or call 734/394-5191.
Scholarship Opportunities
When financial circumstances create a barrier to participation, Canton residents may be eligible to apply for a Canton Leisure Services Scholarship, which can be applied towards Leisure Services classes and programs. Recipients may receive up to $500 per individual in a calendar year.
Please note that children currently in foster care and residing in Canton are also eligible for up to $500 in financial support in a calendar year. Formal documentation will need to be provided.
