[ARCHIVED] Trivia Fundraiser to Benefit Canton’s Lead #LikeAGirl Youth Program

The B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center and Chicks 4 Charity are teaming up to host a special trivia fundraiser on Thursday, May 3, 2018, to benefit Canton’s Lead #LikeAGirl scholarship program at Fellows Creek Golf Club, located at 2936 S. Lotz Road in Canton, MI.

Teams of up to six people of all ages and genders will square off for bragging rights and cash prize during “A Night In Paris Trivia Fundraiser”.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for this family-friendly fundraiser, with trivia scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional activities include 50/50 raffles.

“We invite anyone in our community to put on their thinking caps for a good cause,” said Canton Recreation Specialist Laura Mortier.  “This type of fundraiser will allow teams to have fun, while vying for the $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place.  All of these prizes were made possible by the generous support of Toll Brothers.”

The Lead #LikeAGirl program, a leadership initiative for at-risk girls, is offered annually to area young women, ages 11-17. Inspiration for the program stemmed from a 2015 Super Bowl ad that challenged the nation to rethink an age-old adage about what it means to do something #LikeAGirl. What was once considered an insult, #LikeAGirl has become an epic social battle to redefine those words for generations of women who struggle with challenges related to sexism, bias, and self-confidence each day. The B.L.O.C.K Youth and Teen Center is committed to being a part of this movement. This annual program is designed to change the way that these participants, and the community-at-large, thinks about what it means to Lead #LikeAGirl…and ultimately live #LikeAGirl.

2018 Lead #LikeAGirl program initiatives will include on-site visits to the Bosch Engineering, St. Joseph Medical Center, and Eastern Michigan University.  Additional activities will include a service learning project at First Step – Western & Downriver Wayne County Project on Domestic and Sexual Violence.

All of the proceeds from this special fundraiser will go to the Lead #LikeAGirl Scholarship fund, which awards a graduating participant each year with a college scholarship.

Tickets are $20 per person and include two games of trivia.  Buffet available for purchase on-site for $15 per person.  For additional information, contact Nancy at 734/358-4280.  Register by April 26, by downloading the registration form at
