18th Annual Virtual Turkey Trot Registration

Turkey Trot Runners at the starting line of the Race

Runners and Walkers can keep Canton’s family Thanksgiving tradition alive by participating in the 18th Annual Turkey Trot For a Cause virtual event.  Registration is now open and runners/walkers can take to their neighborhoods, parks, and trails any time from November 19-26, 2020, to support the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.

All ages are encouraged to join us in the fight against epilepsy by registering for the 5K race or 1-mile fun run that will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with seizure disorders.

“Canton’s Turkey Trot has become a real tradition for many families,” said Ann-Marie Carravallah, Recreation Coordinator. “Although we won’t be able to host an in-person race this year, we hope that families will still take part in our virtual event to continue to support a great cause,”

This year’s participant fee is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-Mile Fun Run. Just how does a virtual race or walk take place? It’s as easy as 1-2-3! First, register online at Second, run or walk any time from November 19-26.  Lastly, watch for the exciting raffle drawings on November 21 and 25 to win a new pair of Brooks shoes on our Canton Sports Center Facebook page @CantonSportsCenter.  Feel free to submit your unofficial time at the racing link online at or share photos on our Facebook page.

Register by November 9, to receive a guaranteed Race T-Shirt. Race registration and donation link will stay open through Thanksgiving Day.  This year’s bib shirt pickup will be held at Kickers Sports Bar and Grill in the Canton Sports Center, located at 46555 Michigan Avenue in Canton, MI 48188. Race pickup hours are Friday, November 20, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, November 21, from noon to 9 p.m. Curbside pickup is available by calling 734/483-5600. In addition, dine-in/carry-out is available at Kickers, to raise additional funds for the cause, as a portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Turkey Trot. As a reminder, no pickups will be available at the Summit on the Park.

Canton’s Turkey Trot for a Cause started in 2003 after Justin Murray, a Canton resident, was diagnosed with Epilepsy, and his parents, Michael and Terri Murray, wanted to do something to help in the fight against Epilepsy. Justin has been seizure-free since his brain surgery in 2007 to remove a growth that was causing the seizures. To date, Canton’s Turkey Trot has raised over $200,000 over the past 18 years.
