Canton Township will hold a special memorial ceremony to honor and remember victims of COVID-19, especially the residents of Canton, MI, who have lost their lives to the coronavirus.  This special tribute will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, starting at 5:15 p.m. at the Heritage Park Amphitheater, located directly behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road in Canton, MI.

This memorial ceremony will be led by Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak, who will also be joined by Canton Elected Officials and Board of Trustee members. In addition, this tribute will feature the Canton Fire Department Honor Guard, a musical tribute by Devyn Mitchell, a moment of silence, the tolling of bells in honor of Canton residents and others in our nation and globally who have lost their battle with COVID-19, as well as a luminary walk.

“It is with such heavy hearts that we prepare for this special memorial in Canton that will occur simultaneously with other memorials across the nation in honor of those who have died as a result of this deadly virus,” stated Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak.  “Starting at 5:30 p.m., we will toll the bell for 90 seconds in memory of our Canton neighbors and those around the world who have lost their lives to COVID-19, as well as reflect on what has been one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history.”

Due to an abundance of caution, this special memorial ceremony will also be streamed Live on Facebook at

The public is encouraged to arrive starting at 5 p.m. to pay tribute to the lives of those lost to COVID-19 in the Canton community and around the globe.  The official ceremony is scheduled to begin promptly at 5:15 p.m.  Participants will be required to wear facemasks.
