Watch Canton Center Road Pre-Opening Celebration

The Canton Board of Trustees, along with Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub, State Representative Ranjeev Puri and State Senator Dayna Polehanki, gathered this week for a ribbon cutting ceremony for Canton Center Road. The road is expected to be completely open the week of September 12.

This is the first five-lane replacement project that Canton has ever done. The stretch of Canton Center Road, from Ford Road to Warren Road, was named the worst for potholes in southeast Michigan by a Click on Detroit survey in 2017. The full concrete reconstruction of both the northbound and southbound lanes began in mid-April, was done in three phases, and will be completed well ahead of schedule.

“This project was a true partnership between Canton, the State of Michigan and Wayne County,” said Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak. “By working together as a team, we were able to fix the road properly and in a timely manner.”

In addition to a smoother ride for motorists, the new road is also expected to decrease police and fire response times.
