So much is happening in Canton this winter! Check out some of the exciting events coming up for December!

Tree Lighting

Canton's Annual Tree Lighting Event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Join us Wednesday, December 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. for an evening of holiday fun. Starting off the night, we will welcome Santa all the way from the North Pole who will help Canton Supervisor, Phil LaJoy light our tree outside the Summit on the Park's Banquet Center entrance. Inside we have performances from Dancing Feet, Spotlight on Youth, and more. Joining Santa this year will be Frosty the Snowman, a Winter Marketplace, Cookie decorating, holiday games and so much more.  Be sure to bring your wallet and pick up some unique gifts and great stocking stuffers at our Winter Marketplace. What a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Tickets for sale at the door. $3 per child for residents. $4 per child for non-residents. 



Butterfly Ball Tickets on Sale NOW!

Canton’s Valentine’s tradition returns on February 5 and 6 to the Summit on the Park, offering a unique experience and plenty of special memories! Dads and daughters can enjoy an evening of dancing, refreshments, a special butterfly souvenir, and the highly anticipated- balloon drop that caps off the festivities. Choose from three dances: February 5 at 6:30 p.m.; and February 6 at 2 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. All three dances will all be held in the Summit Gymnasium this year. Tickets are on sale now for Canton residents and will be available to nonresidents starting January 18. All ticket sales will end on February 1. Tickets are just $10.25 for residents and $13.25 for non-residents. Dads and daughters, regardless of age, are required to purchase a ticket to attend, and moms wanting to attend or view the festivities will also be required to purchase a ticket. Please note that there will be no corsage pre-sale. This annual event has sold out in the past, so be sure to purchase tickets early. Earn Summit Bucks in January

Earn $10 worth of Summit Bucks for every $50 you spend on eligible purchases January 1 -31, 2016 at the Summit on the Park. Summit Bucks can be redeemed for eligible purchases through February 28, 2016.
 
Eligible purchases include: Summit Memberships, Swim Lessons and eligible Health & Wellness Offerings (including Registered Fitness Classes, Personal Training Packages and Wellness Coaching Packages). Summit Preschool Classes

Keep the kiddos warm and busy this winter starting with the Train Time preschool class, held on Fridays starting December 4 through December 18 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Participants will learn everything they’ve ever wanted to know about trains. From Thomas to the Polar Express we’ll have stories, crafts, activities and more.  Fees are $41 for Summit Members, $44 for Canton residents, and $50 for non-residents.
 
On Saturday, December 12, preschoolers can run, run, as fast as they can, because we’re going to play with the Gingerbread Man! From 10 – 11:30 a.m., participants in Jolly Gingerbread Jamboree will spend the morning building a preschool-friendly house of sweets, read the story of the Gingerbread Man and even meet the real thing. Holiday Celebration at Canton Club 55+

Seniors, mark your calendars for a special Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 16 at from 12 – 4 p.m. in the Summit Banquet Center’s Grand Ballroom.  This very popular event will include a luncheon, door prizes, plus sounds of the season provided by PCCS Choir. Tickets are available at the Summit Front Desk or at Club 55+ and are $16 for residents and $21 for non-residents. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of the event. The BLOCK

Teen Night Out at The BLOCK

Friday nights are bustling at The BLOCK! Kids, ages 11 to 17, are invited to a fun night out with friends. Teen Nights Out take place from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m., with drop off and pick up at The BLOCK, located in the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Rd. All events meet or take place at The BLOCK and are on a drop-in basis. Upcoming events for winter include: Ice Skating, Summit Swim, Winter Dance, Valentine’s Day Party, and more! Detroit Circus

Detroit Circus returns to Canton 

Back by popular demand, the Detroit Circus returns to Canton’s Village Theater for a special New Year’s Eve performance on Thursday, December 31 at 7 p.m. See high flying aerial antics on fabric and the trapeze; fire dancing and eating; stilt walking and stilt acrobatics; and feats of mind-bending strength. Enjoy special Pre-Show activities featuring face painting, temporary tattoos, and strolling circus entertainers starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for all ages and includes: popcorn, a non-alcoholic beverage and Pre-Show activities. Cashore Marionettes - Simple Gifts

Performing at the Village Theater on January 23, Simple Gifts, is a series of touching portrayals from everyday life set to stunning music by such composers as Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation, music, illusion, and artistic insight, the vignettes presented in Simple Gifts provide an entertaining vision of what it is to be human. The performance explores a range of emotions with characters and actions that are amazingly convincing. Annual Christmas Tea

Take a step back in time and enjoy a holiday afternoon tea at Canton’s historical Bartlett-Travis House on Saturday, December 12 from 1 - 3 p.m. Relax and enjoy the venue conversation, special music by harpist Laurel Federbush, and, of course, the tea and wonderful foods. Guests will be served an assortment of teas, mini quiches, soup, sandwiches, breads with spreads, fruit salad, and desserts. Information about the historical house decorated in circa 1900 will be offered, as well as unique displays from the Canton Historical Society’s Museum collections. Guests will be encouraged to tour the house following the tea. Tickets are $25 per person and are available only at the Summit on the Park. Don’t wait--the 3rd Annual Christmas Tea is limited to 20 guests.

Support the Canton Goodfellows

This year’s annual “No Child Without a Christmas” campaign is in full swing and the Canton Goodfellows still need additional support to continue serving families in need. Volleyball Registration - Canton Sports Center

Now Hiring Lifeguards

Summit on the Park is now hiring lifeguards and swim instructors. Flexible schedules available - great for college students or 2nd job seekers. Effective January 1, 2016, the starting rate for the Lifeguard position is $11.00 per hour.
