Liberty Fest Coming Attractions


Canton's best summer tradition is right around the corner!  Join us for canton's 25th Annual Liberty Fest from Thursday, June 16 through Saturday, June 18 on the grounds of Heritage Park, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road. This year's event will feature three fun filled days of great entertainment, exciting rides and Midway games, delicious food, American's Most Wanted Car Show, Monster Truck rides, a spectacular fireworks display and much, much more!

Festivalgoers who can't get enough of their favorite carnival rides can purchase discounted ride wristbands online at www.cantonlibertyfest.com now through Thursday, June 16 at Noon.  The Megaband will give you unlimited access to all wristband approved rides, during all three days of the event, for just $60.  Megabands can only  be purchased in advance online.  Single Day unlimited ride wristbands that are valid for any one day are $22 each online before the Festival and at the carnival will cost $22 for Thursday, $25 for Friday, and $27 on Saturday.  All discounted wristband online sales will end on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Noon.

Run, walk, strill and celebrate your freedom at the Canton Liberty Run 5K, 10K, and 1 Mile on June 18th.  A portion of your entry fee will help fund recreation and trail improvements in Canton.  Gather your favorite red, white, and blue gear and make your way to the starting line!  Entry includes a free beer at the canton Rotary Club's Adult Beverage Tent, T-shirt, and finisher's medals for all distances!  NEW theme for 2016: Patriotic in Plaid!  Come decked out in your favorite Red, White, Blue, and Plaid apparel.  Visit www.cantonlibertyrun.com for additional details.  For more information on events and attractions, please visit www.cantonlibertyfest.com or call 734/394-5460.


Water Safety Day

May 20 from 6:30-7:30pm

Did you know that May is National Water Safety Month? Come join us at our 2nd Annual Water Safety Day.  Learn about water safety and get a free swag bag to the first 100 participants!  Check out our inflatable water slide while you enjoy a free hotdog, chips, and pop from Cruisin’ Custom Coneys, while supplies last.

Bark in the Park

May 15 from 11am - 1pm


Dog owners and their pets are invited to Bark in the Park on Sunday, May 15 from 11am – 1pm.  Participants, along with their four-legged friends, can enjoy live entertainment as well as purchase merchandise and receive free give-a-ways from local pet supply and service vendors.  Both members of the Dog Park and non-members are encouraged to let their dogs experience this off-leash dog park during this free event.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Canton Dog Park, meet other pet owners, and give dogs the opportunity to become more socialized.  Please note: Non-dog park members must show proof of up-to-date vaccination for Rabies and Distemper, which must be signed by an accredited veterinarian.  The Canton dog Park is located at Denton Road, north of Cherry Hill.  For more information, please visit www.cantonfun.org.

Farmers Market

May 15

The first Farmers Market will kick off the season on Sunday, May 15 from 9am-1pm at Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road, Canton. This open air market features a variety of Michigan grown and made food as well as hand crafted items.  Buy local and learn how your food is grown or made while benefiting our local economy.

Healthy Summer Kick Off Event

May 14 from 11am - 2pm

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is teaming up with Canton Leisure Services to offer the area’s 5th annual Healthy Summer Kick-Off on May 14 from 11am to 2pm. Join TV health reporter, Lila Lazarus for this strolling, family-friendly event being held at St. Joseph Mercy Canton, located at 1600 S. Canton Center Road. St. Joseph Mercy Canton will offer a number of free health screenings including: blood pressure testing, skin cancer, body mass index (BMI) and more. Plus, Urgent Care will host a teddy bear clinic, so don’t forget to bring your favorite stuffed animal to be examined. Free Family Zumba Mini sessions will also be offered along with rock wall climbing powered by Probility Therapy Services, and more! River Day Celebration

May 21 from 8am-1pm

Canton's annual River Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 8am-1pm at Flodin Park, located on Saltz Road at Morton Taylor Road.  The event will take place rain or shine and volunteers of all ages including residents, students, and scouts are encouraged to participate.  River Day is hosted by canton's engineering Services Division and sponsored by Friends of the Rouge.  For more information, or to pre-register for the event, call 734/394-5150.


Summer Youth Activities - Basketball, Baseball, and More!


Basketball league play and camps are available this summer for girls and boys.  Sign up for Canton's recreational coed basketball league comprised of blended grades (3/4, 5/6, 7/8-grade as of fall 2016).  All games are scheduled between 6-10pm at Summit on the Park, Tuesdays, June 7-July 27.  Playoffs are August 9 for qualifying teams.  Per player fees are $60 for Summit members, $65 for Canton residents and $75 for non-residents.  Fee includes a T-shirt.

Four Pat Watson sport Camps will be held this summer which include: Basketball, July 11-15 and July 25-29, baseball July 18-22 and a NEW Legends All Sport Experience, August 1-5.

Tennis Play Day

May 7 from 9-11am

Bring the whole family to Flodin Park on Saturday, May 7 for plenty of tennis fun! Canton Sports Center staff will be on the court giving free “mini” lessons for peewees, juniors and adults from 9 - 11 am. Racquets provided. In case of inclement weather, this Tennis Play Day will be moved to Saturday, May 14. For those ages 16 and up who are looking to get into the golf game, check out our ‘Get Golf Ready in 5 Days’ beginner’s clinics, where you’ll learn all the fundamentals in five group lessons for just $99.
