Canton's Liberty Fest Returns

Join us for three action-packed, fun-filled days when Canton's 27th Annual Liberty Fest returns to Heritage Park on Thursday, June 14 through Saturday, June 16.  in beautiful Heritage Park.  As always, entry into the festival grounds and parking are FREE! Canton’s largest community celebration continues its tradition of offering plenty of fabulous fun for all ages. Heritage Park is located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road, just west of Canton Center Road between Cherry Hill and Summit Parkway.  

Returning Favorites include: Canton's Taste of Liberty Fest and the Beer & Wine Garden will be located near the Amphitheater.  Stop by the Taste of Liberty Fest for signature menu items from area restaurants from 4-11 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 11 pm on Saturday. Two stages of live entertainment and a variety of family-friendly activities will be held throughout the festival. Carnival Armbands/Tickets
Discounted single-day wristbands are available for $23 and can be used for any full day if purchased online before June 14 at Noon. Wristbands will be available for purchase on-site for $27 on Thursday, $30 on Friday, and $30 on Saturday. Purchase a three-day all-ride Megaband for $60 – available ONLINE ONLY and must be purchased prior to June 15 at Noon.  Online sales require a $.99 per transaction fee. All sales are final.

Canton Liberty Run Returns
Lace up your sneakers and join us for the 7th annual Liberty Run 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Runs/Walks on Saturday, June 16. Leisure Services is once again teaming up with RF Events of Ann Arbor for this special fundraiser to benefit Canton trails. All races will start at the clock tower corner of Veterans Way and Civic Center Boulevard, located adjacent to the north end of the Canton Public Library parking lot. Participants are encouraged to run, walk or stroll the courses through neighborhood streets and the scenic Lower Rouge Trail. Race distances include a 5K race to begin at 8:00 a.m.; a 10K race to begin at 8:30 a.m.; and a One Mile Fun Run to begin at 10:15 a.m. Find all the fees and other details about this year's theme of Stars, Stripes and Shade for these runs/walks at www.cantonlibertyrun.com.

Liberty Fest Volunteer Opportunities
Come join the fun!   Exciting volunteer positions are still available for the 27th annual Liberty Fest, June 14-16.   Volunteers are needed to help at the Welcome Booth, Canton Lions Pancake Breakfast, Rotary Club's and Plymouth-Canton Optimist Club's Beer & Wine Garden, Liberty Run and the Inflatable Obstacle Course.   Find details online or email Paula Kosbe @ pkosbe@canton-mi.org or call 734-394-5191.

Lower Rouge Trail

Celebrate National Trails Day

Join us as Canton hits the trails at the Lower Rouge Trailhead, located at Michigan Avenue and Morton Taylor Road, as part of National Trails Day.  This American Hiking Society event will be held this Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. SScheduled activities include: self-guided hiking along the beautiful Rouge River, educational displays and presentations by a naturalist, ‘Leave No Trace’ principles stations, recycling information, trail biking and running details and a 'Make-It-Yourself' Trail-Mix station. Shakespeare Festival

Michigan Shakespeare Festival Returns

The 2018 Michigan Shakespeare Festival will return to The Village Theater on August 3, 2018, with The Tempest, a stirring fairy tale play directed by MSF Artistic Associate Kauzlaric. The rest of the season is the The Rover, a vibrant 1677 Restoration comedy and the Measure for Measure, a comedy with legal, social, and political issues we are still battling today, in a new adaptation by Janice L Blixt and the MSF Company.

Yoga Instructor and Wounded Warrior Dan Nevins

Walk, Talk, & Yoga Yoga In the Park  To Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Join us for the "Lynn M. Bentley Memorial Walk, Talk and Yoga Event To Benefit The Wounded Warrior Project" on Saturday, July 28 at 9 a.m. in Heritage Park, which will be led by Dan Nevins, a nationally recognized Wounded Warrior featured on CBS News. All proceeds from this event, sponsored by Old Glory Flags and Flagpoles of Canton, MI and Canton Leisure Services, will go to benefit Wounded Warrior Project. Dan Nevins credits the practice of yoga for turning his life around after losing his both legs in Iraq. Join him for this special yoga session in Heritage Park.  Tickets are $20 online and will be $25 the week of the event and $30 the day of the event. Tickets are currently on sale online here.

Pheasant Run 9, Wine and Dine

Couples are encouraged to come and enjoy this great event! Pheasant Run will host a nine hole scramble for partners, with a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start, followed by a post-round buffet dinner with unique wine pairings for just $130 per couple.
