Family Camp Out

So much is happening in Canton this summer! Check out some of the exciting events coming up for July!

Family Camp-Out & Movie Night

On Friday, July 17, families are invited to “camp out” overnight in Heritage Park and take in a movie under the stars, featuring “The Lego Movie,” rated PG. Plenty of fun activities have been planned before the feature starting at 6 p.m., including: games, activities and entertainment for the entire family. In addition, dinner and concession items will be sold Friday evening.  To participate in this overnight activity, a $20 per tent fee must be paid on site. No advance reservation necessary. Campers and RV’s are also welcome. Please note, no electricity will be available. Set up begins at noon on Friday, July 17. For those not staying the night, there is a $5 per person fee to take part in the evening’s activities. Canoeing on Friday and a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning will be available for a nominal fee. For details, visit www.cantonfun.org.

Family Field Day

Family Field Day

Unleash your inner child and join us for fun activities and a little friendly competition that the whole family can enjoy during Canton Leisure Services First Annual Family Field Day.  The fun will take place on Friday, August 7, near the Heritage Park Amphitheater starting at 7 p.m. Featured activities include old favorites such as potato sack races, shoe kicks, and our new exciting inflatable obstacle course. This is a great photo opportunity, so remember to bring your camera. No advanced registration is required.  The $10 per family fee can be paid on-site. The fun continues following the Family Field Day with a special showing of Disney’s movie “Frozen” (rated PG) outside in the park on the big screen. The B.L.O.C.K.

"Summer Stay-cation" at the B.L.O.C.K.

Looking for a safe place for your child to stay during the long summer days? The B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center is offering "Summer Stay-cation" for youth ages 11-17. From June 15 - August 28, kids can participate in fun activities in a safe environment.

Register by the week, day, or just for road trips. The B.L.O.C.K is located at 1150 S. Canton Center Rd. Call 734/398-5570 for a tour or register online today!

Shakespeare Festival

Michigan Shakespeare Festival

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is teaming up with the Michigan Shakespeare Festival to bring several special performances to Canton this summer.  From July 29 - August 16, the Michigan Shakespeare Festival will present its 2015 Season lineup at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road.  Performances will include: William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Henry IV,” along with Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s “The Rivals.” Don’t miss these quality productions, featuring respected and professional Equity Actors.  Get your tickets now at www.cantonvillagetheater.org or call 734/394-5300 for more information.

Be sure to stop by the Canton Farmers Market and show your support for our local farmers and vendors!  Located at 500 N. Ridge Rd., the Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9 am – 1 pm rain or shine, until October 18.

This family-friendly market offers a wide variety of produce, foods, handmade items, and more.  Stop by this Sunday and discover something new!

Canton Dog Park Yappy Hour

Yappy Hour is a great opportunity to mingle with other dog lovers at the Dog Park. Snacks for 2 and 4-legged friends will be provided and there will be plenty of free giveaways! No pre-registration is necessary, however, Dog Park membership is required. Yappy Hour Dates: July 25, and August 22 from 11 am - 12 pm.

Rally on Ridge

Rally on Ridge

Enjoy plenty of local eats and music at the 2nd Annual Rally on Ridge event, which will be held on Tuesday, July 28 from 5 – 8 p.m. Just head to the Cherry Hill School Lawn at the corner of Ridge Road and Cherry Hill for this fundraiser benefitting the Canton Farmers Market. All ages are encouraged to attend. The evening will feature several food trucks, live local musicians, and lawn games. BINGO will also be available in the Cherry Hill School House. Be sure to check out the Summer Camps’ Michigan themed artwork showcased in the School House. Come out for a great night with great food to support the Canton Farmers Market! Get the Kids Moving this Summer with the Canton Activity Crew!

Looking for something fun and exciting for your child to do this summer? Register them for the Canton Activity Crew! The Canton Activity Crew (C.A.C.) is a supervised playground program for kids ages 5 -15. The program rotates weekdays between several Canton park sites and features games, nature, crafts, and sports for kids.  For more details about the program, including a playground schedule, visit cantonfun.org.
