Important Facility News

Summit on the Park Sidewalk Replacement Project Update
Please be advised that the Summit on the Park's sidewalks surrounding the facility will undergo construction in three consecutive phases starting Monday, July 23. This improvement project is expected to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting. Each construction phase is expected to last approximately one week. Please note that full access to parking lot spaces will be available throughout the duration of this project. 

Construction Phases: 

  1. Replacement of the sidewalks in front of the Recreation entrance
  2. Replacement of the sidewalks in front of the Banquet Center entrance
  3. Replacement of the sidewalks in front of the Summit's main entrance and circle drive 

Visitors to the Summit are advised to follow the directional signage, which will guide them to alternate entrances during construction. Your patience and understanding during this project are greatly appreciated. For additional information, please contact the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460.

Lifeguard Class
July 28-29 & August 4-5
Class Time: 9:00-5:30 p.m. Each Day

Looking for a flexible job with great pay?  Come join the Summit's Lifeguard Class this summer and learn what it takes to protect people around water.  Our starting pay is $11 per hour.  Contact our Aquatic Specialist at 734/394-5467 for additional information.

Water Safety Instructor Class
August 10-12 & 17-19

Are you comfortable in the water? Are you familiar with freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly? Learn how to teach both kids and adults these strokes, as well as how to respect the water. Instructors will receive a certification to be able to teach swim lessons anywhere in the country! Registration available online here.
Fee: $220 plus Red Cross Registration Fee of $35

Summit Swim Meet

Regular Season Farmers Market

July 21 Activity Day - Where's the Cookies?
Oh No! Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar? Not to worry ... Canton Police Officer Esselink will walk us through the steps of solving this mystery. Members will learn about collecting evidence from a crime. Make sure to "pull over" this July at the Summit on the Park.  R

NEW! Chair Volleyball - Drop In 
Now - August 30, 12:00-12:45 p.m.
Looking to have fun while getting some exercise? This is a great activity for all levels and abilities, no experience necessary. Games will be played with a beach ball and a low net in the Maple Room. Teams will consist of 6-10 participants on each side of the court. Looking for some extra help navigating the internet or your smart phone? Join us at the Canton Library for our first ever BLOCK Tech Night. Teens from the BLOCK are ready to help you one-on-one with your technology questions. You can learn to:

Canton Club 55+ Senior Summer Games
August 20-24

Attention all adults 55+! Canton is hosting its Annual Summer Games in August. We will be kicking off this event with our Annual Golf Tournament at Pheasant Run, followed by a number of indoor, field, and court events. The games will conclude with an awards ceremony for the participants. This event is open to residents and nonresidents age 55+. Register now through August 10. Team Activities – Tennis (2 per team), Golf (4 per team), Pickleball (2 per team), Trivia (4-6 per team). 
Participants do not need to sign up with a team. You will be placed on a team if you decide to sign up as an individual.

Join us for another summer of music and fun at the Amphitheater in our scenic Heritage Park for your weekly dose of fresh air, family and friends!  We encourage you to bring your blankets or folding chairs while you relax and enjoy the music on the Amphitheater lawn. Family Movie Camp Out featuring Moana
July 13 -14
Tent Set-Up begins at 12:00 p.m.
Evening Activities begin at 6:00 p.m.

Families are invited to set up tents in Heritage Park near the North Pavilion to enjoy a movie, Moana (rated PG), at dusk. There will be plenty to do before the movie, including games, activities and entertainment for the entire family beginning at 6:00 p.m. 

Dinner & concession items will be sold Friday evening and breakfast items will be sold Saturday morning from Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea. Face painting will be available Friday Tent set up begins at noon on Friday July, 13. RV's and tents are both welcome. Please note there will be electrical or water hook up for RV's. Personal Safety for Teens and College Students
Saturday, July 21, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
As a parent you will worry about your teenager as they go off to college, enter the working world or even as they go about their day to day lives in general. We created this class to address some of those concerns. Teens will learn some basic life-skills that will help them make the transition into adulthood, be it in dorm life or as a high school student. Some of the topics that Canton Public Safety will cover include the importance of being a good witness and knowing your surroundings, the basics of dorm room safety, the prevalence of social media dangers and what to do if you DO become a victim of a crime. Students will see a demonstration of simple self-defense techniques by instructors from The American Karate Academy of Canton. Click here to register for this FREE event.
