Detroit Legend Highlights Fall Performances

“Blues & Bourbon”
On October 6 following a pre-show Bourbon Tasting event in the lobby, Thornetta Davis, will perform on the Main Stage. Crowned “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues” in 2015, Davis is a multi-talented International Singer and Songwriter from Detroit MI and is the winner of over 30 Detroit Music Awards, including sweeping the 2017 and 2018 DMA’S. Davis has been exciting and wowing audiences all over the world with tours to Italy, as well as Blues festivals in Tunisia North Africa, Lucerne Switzerland, Sweden, Paris France, Norway, Germany, Holland, England, and Canada. Special guest, Jibs Brown Band, is one of the Detroit’s most recognizable acoustic artists.

September 2018 Gallery @VT featuring "Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild"

The Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild is comprised of a group of artists who champion the enjoyment of fiber arts through information and demonstration. Works on display include a wide variety of fiber art, such as: Basketry, Beading, Bead Embroidery, Bead Weaving, Kumihimo, Crochet, Doll Making, Dyeing and Painting, Embroidery, Felting, Garment Design and Construction, Handmade paper and Book Art, Knitting, Knotting, Quilting, Sewing, Spinning, Weaving, and Surface Design. These one-of-a-kind textile creations contain unique color, pattern and textural details and can provide warmth and texture to enhance any environment as they take you on a textile journey that may be powerful or subtle, as well as lyrical and dramatic.
 
Exhibit Artists, include: Jill Ault, Millie Danielson, Autumn Grace Dougherty, Carol Fleischer, Linda Girard, Cindy Harris, Anne Percy Knott, Sandra Kunkle, Karen Koykka O’Neal, Mary Valerie Richter, Patricia Ritchie, Barbara Schutzgruber, Jennifer Stafford, Patricia Thompson, Karen Turkes, Helen Welford, and Kathy Zazuwa.
 
Originally founded in 1956 as a club for weavers, the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild (AAFG) provides opportunities for fiber artists to meet and exchange ideas, and to learn about fiber art through lectures and workshops. Motor City Junior Bhangra and Gidha Competition

The annual MOTOR CITY BHANGRA COMPETITION returns to the Village Theater. Through this competition, the goal is to promote Punjabi culture and heritage, as well as take steps forward so that the younger generation has the opportunity to learn with the proper knowledge and guidance. The Bhangra & Giddha Competition is thankful for the love and support throughout our journey of organizing this competition and is looking forward to hosting another SOLD OUT show! I Am Tony Fant

This Stand-Up comedy Special will showcase the comedic styles of Tony Fant, Jr.  The self-funded comic and producer will be debuting his first stand up comedy special featuring the funny, talented comic styling of Donovan Wilson, Louis Michael, and Marv Ross. Approximate run time: 2 hours. Rated PG-13 due to language. Tickets: $12.

TLC Productions

This unique stage show by TLC Productions includes 5 original one-act plays and a scene from a forthcoming new musical authored by TLC Productions. The plays include commissioned scripts from award-winning authors. In a matter of only a few hours of rehearsals, actors will bring these works to life. This theatrical event combines the best of the Canton One Acts Festival and a 24-hour theater project. Approximate run time: 1 hour. Rated PG. Tickets: $15

The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised to spend their new life together in a brand new state: O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A – OKLAHOMA! Rated: G. WHAT!? 2 Magicians Tell the Truth

When two of the most creative guys in magic get together you are in for a special night. This show is funny and amazing and will leave you saying ‘What!?’ Written, invented, and performed by George Tait and Keith Fields. George Tait, a Detroit native has been seen with two of the largest touring magic shows to date, Masters of Illusion Live, and behind the scenes on The Illusionists. His performance is a mixture of conjuring techniques with a dash of subtle psychology. He’s also worked with A & E, NBC, and the CW network. He’s also performed for music groups like Metalica & Seven Dust. George also gives his Critical Thinking presentation for colleges around the US. Keith Fields is a man of mystery with a flair for the funny. One minute you will be laughing your socks off, the next you will be wondering how he does it! Keith is a regular performer at Hollywood’s Magic Castle and for 3 years starred in his own show in Pigeon Forge called ‘A Brit of Magic’. Approx run time 1¾ hour. Rated: PG-13. Tickets: $20




Pacifica Quartet

Celebrating their 25th season in 2018-2019, the Grammy Award-winning Pacifica Quartet is widely regarded as one of the leading string quartets of the world. The Pacifica inaugurates the Chamber Music Society of Detroit’s new regional series, which features four weekends of concerts in 2018-2019, with performances on each weekend in Canton, Grosse Pointe, and Rochester Hills. Sounds of Motown Featuring Motor City Soul

Community Financial Credit Union is proud to present “Sounds of MOTOWN” featuring the “Motor City Soul” for a fundraiser to benefit the Partnership for the Arts and Humanities. Then, at 8:00 p.m. get ready to dance to the sounds of your favorite classic “MOTOWN” songs. 26th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition Reception and Awards

The Canton Commission for Culture, Arts & Heritage is proud to present the 26th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition. Chosen artists’ work will be displayed to the public during the month of October.  This special exhibit brings together works of some of the best artists from throughout southeastern Michigan. The Village Theater will host a pre-show Bourbon tasting event in the lobby. Patrons will learn the history of Bourbon including how it is made, and will also be given the opportunity to purchase a taste of three distinct flavors of bourbon.
Following the Bourbon Tasting event there will be a performance by “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues”, Thornetta Davis, a multi-talented International Singer and Songwriter from Detroit MI. This winner of over 30 Detroit Music Awards, including sweeping the 2017 DMA’S with 8 awards. Thornetta has been exciting and wowing audiences all over the world. Her voice is strong, commanding, melodic and smooth. Thornetta tells her stories with incredible delivery and leaves her audiences wanting more. Special Guest Jibs Brown Band is one of the Detroit’s most recognizable acoustic artists, specializing in a brand of music that crosses all genres by mixing Motown, Blues, and 90s Rock. Approximate run time: 3 hours. Tickets: $28.
