So much is happening in Canton this winter! Check out all of the exciting events coming up for December.


Canton's Annual Tree Lighting

Area residents are invited to attend Canton's Annual Tree Lighting Event, which promises to be bigger and better than ever. Join us Wednesday, December 5 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. for an evening of FREE holiday fun. Starting off the night, we will welcome Santa all the way from the North Pole who will help light our official holiday tree outside the Summit on the Park's Banquet Center entrance. Additional outdoor activities will included entertainment, live reindeer, and ice carving demonstrations. Indoor activities include: arts and crafts, free henna body art, holiday shows, and visits with Santa.  What a festive way to kick off the holiday season!  Participants can also experience Holidays from Around the World and learn other holiday traditions with information and activities from several different countries.  Alexis Lubecki, Miss Michigan Teen USA 2019, will also be making a special appearance during the event.   For additional information here or call 734/394-5460.

Holiday Celebration at Canton Club 55+

Seniors, mark your calendars for a special Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 12 at from 12 – 3 p.m. in the Summit's Banquet Room. This very popular event will celebrate the holidays with friends, family, food and prizes. Join us for an afternoon filled with entertainment, conversation and activities. This will be a party you will not want to miss. Tickets are available at the Summit Front Desk or at Club 55+ and are $17 for Summit members; $19 for residents and $24 for non-residents.  This event is sponsored in part by Regency of Canton and Heartland. Shop To Give Opportunity Available Dec. 10-13 at Benefit Twice Outlet

Benefit Twice Outlet Store in Canton is hosting a Shop to Give, where 10% of the sales from December 10-13 will go to support the Canton Cares fund just by showing a copy of this eNewsletter. The Canton Cares Fund provides financial support for Canton Township-sponsored programs assisting seniors, veterans, youth and the disabled. In addition, this fund also assists Canton residents following natural disasters, or significant personal loss, as well as programs recognizing heroic or “above-and-beyond" acts. Butterfly Ball Returns

Canton’s Valentine’s tradition returns on February 8 and 9 to the Summit on the Park, offering a unique experience and plenty of special memories! Dads and daughters can enjoy an evening of dancing, refreshments, a special butterfly souvenir, and the highly anticipated- balloon drop that caps off the festivities. Choose from three dances: February 8 at 6 p.m.; and February 9 at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. All three dances will again be held in the Summit Gymnasium this year. Tickets will be on sale starting December 3rd. All ticket sales will end on February 1st. Tickets are just $11 for residents and $14 for non-residents. Dads and daughters, regardless of age, are required to purchase a ticket to attend. This annual event has sold out in the past, so be sure to purchase tickets early. Detroit Circus

Detroit Circus returns to Canton 

Back by popular demand, the Detroit Circus returns to Canton’s Village Theater for a special New Year’s Eve performance on Monday, December 31, at 7 p.m. See high flying aerial antics on fabric and the trapeze; fire dancing and eating; stilt walking and stilt acrobatics; and feats of mind-bending strength. Tickets are $22 for all ages.  Get your tickets today! Summit New Year Membership Special

Are you planning to kick off the New Year with fitness as a top priority for you and your family?  Then be sure to take advantage of special savings with the Summit's New Year Membership Special.

Swim Across a Great Lake

From January 1-June 30, take the Swim Across a Great Lake challenge and swim the length of Lake Erie at the Summit Aquatic Center.  Participants will have the flexibility to choose when they swim the 57 miles or 4.013 lengths of the pool during Aquatic Center's hours. This challenge fee is just $30. Swimmers must be a Summit member to participate. New this year!  Interested swimmers are encouraged to attend a Kick Off Meeting on December 13 at 6 p.m. at the Summit.    Register online here today!

Golf

Get Unlimited Golf at PRGC in 2019

Golf may be over for this season, but it's never too early to plan for next year's time on the links; especially when savings are involved!  Purchase an Annual Pass at Pheasant Run Golf Club between now and December 19, and save 10% off the full pass price. Annual golf passes allow for unlimited golf with cart and range use throughout the year. Passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Volleyball Registration - Canton Sports Center

Volleyball registration is now open for six-person teams in Coed Recreational Leagues that will play on Sunday evenings starting January 6 at the Summit on the Park. For league pricing and other information, please call the Canton Sports Center at 734/483-5600 or email coralee.ott@canton-mi.org.

GCYBSA Spring Registration

Greater Canton Youth Baseball and Softball Association (GCYBSA) Spring Registration will run from January 10 through March 15, 2019 for girls and boys ages 4-18.  Programs include: Small Ball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, and Girls Softball. For more information, please visit www.GCYBSA.com


Boys Lacrosse Grades 2-8 Sign-Up Underway

Registration for Spring Boys Lacrosse is now open.  No experience necessary.  With limited spots available, players are encouraged to register before December 31, 2018. Summit Fitness Classes

Whether you are new to fitness, someone looking to take your training to the extreme, or someone in-between, the Summit on the Park offers a wide variety of fitness and wellness programs to fit your needs:

  •  Personal Training: Don’t wait, get your New Year’s resolution started today! Meet with one of our personal trainers and get your health and fitness goals met. Our trainers specialize in: weight loss, sport specific, senior balance and strength, and youth fitness! If you are looking for a single session, multi-session, or group training, we have packages to meet your every need! 

  • Group Fitness: From December 16 – January 5, Summit on the Park members are able to take a handful of our registered classes for FREE! These classes include: Barre, Beginner Yoga, Gentle Yoga, MELT, Spartan Strong, and TRX Fusion. We will also be offering an Introduction to TRX on Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. and Fridays at 9:15 a.m., where individuals can learn the basics of the TRX Suspension Trainer before registering for a full class. In addition, there will also be an Introduction to Aerial Yoga where participants can get to know the yoga hammock and what a class would entail.
