As winter kicks into high gear, you'll find plenty of opportunities to stay active and engaged in Canton despite the weather! Be sure to check out some of the exciting events coming up in February.

Special Fundraiser at The Village Theater 

Tickets are still available for  a very special musical fundraising event that will be held on February 6, at 7:00 p.m.  This energetic and multi dimension performance is a live musical fundraiser featuring Broadway tunes, hosted by American Cancer Society in partnership with Women’s Life Society Chapter 827 - Chicks for Charity. Enjoy a delicious dessert and sweet treats bar, featuring a Cold Stone Creamery ice cream sundae bar while bidding on the silent auction. All proceeds and donations from this event will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Canton and Plymouth. The pre-show reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.cantonvillagetheater.org, by phone at 734/394-5300, or in person Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Village Theater, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road.

Off Season Farmers Markets Return to the Summit on the Park This Month

The first of three monthly Winter Markets will be held on Sunday, February 24 in the Summit on the Park's Banquet Lobby, located at 46000 Summit Parkway. Markets are also scheduled for March 24 and April 14 at the Summit; all with special winter market hours from 10 am - 2 pm. Over a dozen local vendors will be featured at the Market.

Canton Pavilion Online Rentals

It's not too early to think ahead to spring and summer!  Starting February 4, 2019, at 9 a.m., Canton Leisure Services will begin accepting online reservations from Canton residents for its open-air pavilions at www.cantonfun.org.  Only online bookings from Canton residents will be accepted at this time.  Starting March 1 at 9 a.m., Canton residents may submit phone reservations by calling 734/394-5310, however online reservations are still encouraged.   Online or phone reservations for non-residents will be accepted starting March 26.  Payment is due at time of reservation. Historic District Commission Positions Available

The Canton Historic District Commission is accepting applications for several vacant positions on the Commission. Interested Canton Township residents who have a background and strong interest in historic preservation should send a cover letter and resume to Gregg King, Canton Township Historic District Commission Staff Liaison, 1150 S. Village Theater Call For Artists

The Gallery@VT would once again like to invite area artists to apply for a group or solo art exhibition for the 2020 season. The Village Theater is interested in featuring a diverse group of artists of all mediums. Submission will be juried by an exhibition committee comprised of local artists, arts professionals, and art educators. Please be advised that you are ineligible if you have had a Solo Exhibition at the Gallery@VT within the last 5 years. Submissions are due by April 11, 2019. Mom to Mom Sale Coming This Spring

Mark Your Calendars for March 16

Calling all moms!  If you're looking for some great bargains, be sure to come to Canton Leisure Services Mom To Mom Sale on Saturday, March 16 at the Summit on the Park, located at 460000 Summit Parkway. Find over 65 booths featuring gently used baby and kids clothing, shoes, and more from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - all at a fraction of the cost!  Admission is $2 from 8-9 a.m. and $1 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 734/394-5460.

Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues

Greater Canton Youth Baseball and Softball Association (GCYBSA) will accept registration for its Spring 2019 now through March 15 for girls and boys ages 4-18. Programs include: Small Ball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, and Girls Softball. Register online.  For additional information, email gcybsa@canton-mi.org.

Free Tax Counseling Available

Appointments for Tax Counseling Services for low to moderate income adults, with special focus on seniors are currently being accept at Canton Club 55+.  This tax program will run every Monday and Tuesday now through April 9 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Summit on the Park, for those who qualify.   This AARP sponsored program has morning and early afternoon appointments available with a volunteer tax counselor. Be sure to mention if you will be applying for a waiver of penalty for payment of property taxes at the time you make your appointment.  In addition, joint return appointments must be scheduled for mornings only. Neither Canton Township, the individual tax counselors, nor AARP assume liability for tax preparation.  Call Canton Club 55+ at 734/394-5485 to schedule an appointment today!

Pheasant Run Golf Club

Golf Leagues Now Forming

Pheasant Run’s golf leagues are now registering players for the 2019 season. League play starts in May and runs 15 weeks. Registration is currently underway. Each week two teams of two players will play 9 holes and rotate times to play in different groups.  Sign up today by calling 734/397-6460.

Fellows Creek Golf Club Update

Fellows Creek Golf Club and Banquet Center is hiring for banquet staff, bar staff, pro shop staff, and grounds maintenance. Applications can be picked up at the facility any day from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., or call 734/728.1300 x.5 to reach the General Manager, Jeff LeBlanc.
