2019 Chinese Spring Festival

Saturday, March 23

Reception at 6:00 p.m.


Join us for an evening of Folk & Classical dances performed by Metro Detroit area Chinese Schools and vocal performances featuring: soloist Shuping Ma, Peking Opera, Duets, the Canton Philharmonic Choir, and Michigan Chinese Choir & March Wind Choir. Our show will also feature instrumentalists on Pipa and Guzheng. A pre-show reception begins at 6:00 p.m. featuring displays on Peking Opera presented by PCCLC, MNCCS, and Annhua Chinese School of Ann Arbor. This program is presented by the Commission for Culture, Arts, and Heritage and members of the Chinese Festival Subcommittee.
 
Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance online, by phone 734/394-5300, or in person Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Village Theater, 50400 Cherry Hill Road, Canton. Tickets: $5

Partnership for the Arts

Doors open at 7 p.m. with a welcome reception that will include sample-size appetizers from local restaurants. Then, at 8 p.m. get ready to dance to the sounds of your favorite classic 80s songs. Please help support the construction of the Village Arts Factory by contributing to the Partnership for the Arts and Humanities, a registered 501(c)3 organization. Approximate run time: 2 hrs. Tickets: $30.

BollyBurn Dancers present their 5th Annual Bollywood Bash, An international showcase of Metro Detroit dance/performance studios. An event to help save kids from sex slavery, while working with local businesses, a vision to support a worthy cause and raise awareness to benefit a very worthy cause. Tickets: $15 ($20 day of performance)

Chamber Music Society of Detroit

The inaugural season of the CMSD’s new regional partner concerts concludes with the return of the extraordinary Canadian pianist, Stewart Goodyear, who made his CMSD debut just last season. His program pairs a late Beethoven treasure with the spectacular color of Ravel and the majesty of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Tickets: $10-$45

H.M.S. Pinafore-or the Lass That Loved a Sailor was Gilbert & Sullivan’s fourth collaboration and their first blockbuster hit. The comic operetta opened in London in 1898 and ran for 571 performances. When it premiered in Boston the following year one critic wrote, ‘Going to Pinafore has become a mania. Tickets: $15-$25
