"Summit Shape Up for Summer" Membership Special

Are you looking for a short-term fitness center membership to get in shape for the summer? Then, be sure to take advantage of the Summit on the Park’s ‘Shape Up For Summer’ membership special and save! Youth Peace Walk

Participants of the B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center will host a youth-led walk against violence and hate in partnership with Canton Public Safety on Saturday, April 27 at Heritage Park. This free event, entitled “Together Towards Tomorrow,” will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. starting at the Heritage Park Amphitheater.  The walk is intended to be a peaceful demonstration of participants’ commitment to a community and a future with peace and tolerance, while bringing awareness to the issues our youth are passionate about, including: bullying, gun violence, mental health, and more. The event will include a guest speaker, Harry Weaver, music, poster-making for the walk around the large pond, and an onsite event T-Shirt sale with proceeds benefiting the Youth Advisory Council Endowment Fund, which grants money to other youth organizations in the community that make a difference. Easter Eggstravganza returns 

Canton's annual family-friendly event is back! Be sure to bring the kids out to the Summit on the Park on Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to enjoy a variety of Easter and spring-themed activities! No pre-registration is necessary for the Easter Eggstravaganza, however there is a fee per child of $4 for Canton Residents and $5 for Non-Residents, which can be paid for at the event’s information booths.  Continuous egg hunts will be held in two age categories to help keep the “hunting” fair for even our littlest participants.  Please allow some extra time for parking, as historically this is a well-attended event. The grounds tend to be very wet in early spring, so please dress accordingly. Find a complete schedule of events at www.cantonfun.org prior to the event.

Canton Farmers Market

Off Season Farmers Market - April 14

The last off season Farmers Market will be held on Sunday, April 14, in the Summit on the Park lobby, located at 46000 Summit Parkway.  Market hours are from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Over a dozen local vendors will be featured.

Canton Sports Center Field Fun Day 

Area residents are invited to a special ribbon-cutting in celebration of the Canton Sports Center's recent field renovations at the 12-diamond complex on Tuesday, April 30, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Quad #1. The Ribbon Cutting will be held at 6 p.m., with fun activities scheduled until 8 p.m. This fun family event will take place at the Canton Sports Center, located at 46555 W. Michigan Avenue behind Arctic Edge & High Velocity. The FREE fun day includes: contests, clinics, food, and open practice fields. MLB Pitch Hit & Run contest for boys and girls 7-14, with a visit from Detroit Tigers PAWS & Energy Team. Greater Canton Youth Baseball and Softball Association's Opening Day will be held featuring the LAB skills clinics, equipment demos, home run derby, and obstacle course for all ages; as well as Canton Cricket Association's summer registration with equipment and game demos. Canton Cares Trivia Night Fundraiser

A special fundraiser will be held on Thursday, May 2, to benefit the Canton Cares Fund, which provides resources for township programs that assist seniors, veterans, youth, disabled individuals, and first responder recognition programs among others. Woman’s Life Society Chapter 827, Chicks 4 Charity will match the first $500 raised by this special fundraising event, which will be held at Fellows Creek Golf Course located at 2936 S. Lotz Road in Canton.
 
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for this family-friendly fundraiser, with trivia scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and include two games of trivia.  A dinner buffet will also be available for purchase on-site for $13 per plate.  Trivia teams can have up to six players. Reservations with payment are required by April 26, as space is limited. The event will also feature cash prizes for winning teams, a cash bar, and optional drop-bucket raffle.  Chicks 4 Charity hosts volunteer service projects or fundraisers every month of the year to benefit local charities. 9th Annual Canton Acts of Culture Week

Next month, Canton will once again showcase arts and culture during the 9th annual Canton Acts of Culture Week, which will run May 11-19, 2019.  This exciting week-long celebration, presented by the Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage, will feature a variety of cultural offerings available at various locations throughout Canton.  Community members are encouraged to enjoy the wide the variety of events, including the following special presentations.
 
A special "Acts of Fashion Show" is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road.  For details, visit www.actsoffashion.com.

Summit Personal Care Pantry now available

The Summit on the Park's Personal Care Pantry is now open to the public during regular business hours to assist community members who are struggling to meet some important basic needs. If you know someone or are experiencing a need, you can visit the pantry by asking the Summit member services staff at the front desk or make arrangements by emailing our members services staff at summitmemberservices@canton-mi.org. If you would like to help us keep our pantry stocked, donations are always welcome! A donation box is now located in the Summit Lobby, where personal care items are being collected, including: cleaning supplies, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, soap, tissue, toilet paper. toothbrushes and more. This year celebrate Mother's Day in a special way! Moms, Aunts, Grandmothers and more can enjoy an evening of dancing and memory-making at the Summit on the Park on May 3 & 4 with the special young men in their life.  Event-goers will enjoy light refreshments and a popular balloon-drop finale! Souvenir photos will be available for an additional cost at the dance. Semi-formal attire is recommended. This year’s theme will be Kentucky Derby Style! So, don your wide-brimmed hats and choose a dance: May 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; May 4th from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now through April 26 for $10 per Canton Resident or $11per Non-Resident. All ages require a ticket. Advanced ticket purchase is required and space is limited to the first 300 guests per night. Please be advised that this program fills up quickly!
